Tabung Amanah Pekerja (TAP) continues its outreach efforts through SE:TAPak, an initiative aimed at helping self-employed individuals better understand the Skim Persaraan Kebangsaan (SPK) and its role in supporting long-term financial security and retirement planning.
As part of its ongoing engagement activities, TAP officers conducted a field visit to vendors and visitors at the Siuk Havoc 2.0 Food Festival Brunei 2026, held at Jerudong Park Garden on Friday, 1 May 2026. The visit focused on engaging directly with food festival vendors, many of whom represent the growing segment of self-employed individuals and microentrepreneurs.
During the session, TAP officers approached vendors at their booths and their visitors to provide brief and accessible explanations on the benefits of the Skim Persaraan Kebangsaan Self-Employed (SPK SE). The engagement also provided an opportunity for vendors and visitors to ask questions, clarify their understanding, and receive guidance on registration in a convenient and practical setting.
SPK SE is a voluntary scheme designed to help self-employed individuals build their retirement savings. Subject to eligibility criteria and conditions, verified self-employed individuals may receive additional contributions through the Government Match-Up. The scheme also extends protection to members’ dependents through derivative benefits, strengthening social security coverage for the self-employed community.
Recognising the diverse nature of self-employment today, SPK SE accommodates a wide range of professions including food vendors, freelancers, gig workers, delivery riders, online sellers, and home-based entrepreneurs. The scheme offers flexibility in contributions, allowing individuals to contribute according to their income levels while maintaining consistent savings towards long-term financial security.
The SE:TAPak initiative reflects TAP’s continuous commitment to making its services more accessible by reaching individuals directly where they work. By engaging vendors during events such as this, TAP aims to bridge information gaps and encourage greater participation in SPK SE.
TAP encourages all self-employed individuals to learn more about SPK SE and take proactive steps towards securing their future.
SE:TAPak will continue to be rolled out across various districts, events, and business locations nationwide as part of TAP’s broader effort to expand outreach and engagement with the self-employed community.
