Employee Trust Fund (TAP) Host Welcoming Dinner 42nd ASEAN Social Security Association (ASSA) Board Meeting

5 November 2025

The Employee Trust Fund (TAP) of Brunei Darussalam hosted a Welcome Dinner in conjunction with the 42nd ASEAN Social Security Association (ASSA) Board Meeting, welcoming delegates representing ASSA member institutions, international partners, and guests from across the region.

In appreciation of the support and contributions of ASSA partners during the welcoming dinner, tokens of appreciation were presented by the Chairman of TAP Board of Directors, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah to the ASSA Chairman, ASSA Secretary General (2024–2025), Heads of Delegates, and Good Practice Session Speakers from ASSA member institutions.

The dinner was also graced by Mr. Azmilen bin Haji Ramlee, Interim Managing Director of TAP and Vice Chairman of ASSA (2024 – 2025), who in his welcoming remarks expressed appreciation to all ASSA members, plenary speakers, and delegates for their strong support and continued commitment to the advancement of social security across ASEAN countries.

He highlighted that the evening was not only a celebration of regional collaboration but also a reflection of Brunei Darussalam’s journey in transforming its social protection landscape through the Skim Persaraan Kebangsaan (SPK), launched in 2023. The scheme, he noted, embodies principles of sustainability, inclusivity, and long-term security for the nation’s workforce.

Underscoring the theme “Collective Progress – Transformative Reforms Towards a Secure Future for All,” he also emphasized that true transformation extends beyond systems and policies as empowerment and innovation, noting that social security reforms must work hand in hand with socio-economy resilience initiatives.

The evening also featured an exhibition of local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), showcasing home-grown products and crafts that reflect Bruneians’ creativity, resilience, and innovation — many of whom are self-employed and supported by government and social security programmes.

Also present at the dinner were TAP Board of Directors Members and TAP Board Committee Members, who joined the event in support of the ASEAN social security community.

The dinner served as a warm platform for networking and cultural exchange ahead of the Board Meeting sessions, reflecting the warmth and hospitality of Brunei Darussalam and its continued commitment to strengthening unity, collaboration, and shared progress within the ASEAN social security community.
